A Kansas motor vehicle bill of sale is proof of the vehicle transfer between a buyer and seller.
While not required to register a vehicle, this document can be used if a legal dispute arises regarding the validity of the transfer, as it is proof of both parties’ mutual consent on the purchase price of the vehicle and other matters. Both parties sign the document, and an odometer disclosure statement must be provided.
Vehicle registrations must be done within 60 days of the purchase or 90 days after an individual becomes a resident of Kansas.
Registrations are valid for one year. A renewal notice will be mailed to you annually 30 days before your registration expires. Expiration dates are based on a last-name system.
